ASL: O’s Draw, Riders Lose

The Rhode Island Oceaneers secured an important road point in a 2-2 draw to AC Crusaders on Saturday at Silver Eagle Stadium in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.

Emerson Barros gave the O’s an immediate lead when he scored in the first minute while Brayan Rouvira scored seconds before the interval. The Crusaders responded with a penalty strike from Adam Sternberger in the 32nd minute as well as a Dadji Freitas goal in the 50th minute.

With the draw, the Oceaneers’ record went to 1-2-2 (5 points) while the Crusaders’ mark now stands at 2-6-1 (7 points).

The Oceaneers return to action on Saturday when they head back to the Garden State to face Icon FC.

Mass United FC will have to wait another week to get their first win of the season after they dropped a 3-2 loss to Evergreen Diplomats on Saturday at PG County Sports Complex in Hyatsville, Md.

Eddie Campbell opened the scoring for the Dips in the sixth minute,  while Brian Graham netted the hosts next goal in the 35th minute. The Riders responded with strikes from Charlie McMahon in the 49th minute and Carlos Diniz equalized in the 79th minute before Brian Davis scored the winner for the Dips in the 83rd minute.

The loss put the Riders at 0-2-4 (4 points) while the Diplomats improved to 2-4-0 (6 points)

Mass United will be back on the pitch on Saturday when they host Ironbound Soul.
