Sporting CP Update 5/19

SCP1

Sporting Lisbon were home for the final time this season against Braga, their opponents in the Portuguese Cup finals on May 31.

Sunday’s match was Sporting’s second to last match of the league, and if it was any indication of how the finals may go down, the Leoes maybe be celebrating already. Although Braga struck early in the 13th minute from Felipe Pardo, Braga were unable to resist Sporting as they scored four unanswered goals in a crushing 4-1 win over Braga.

Three of Sporting’s four goals were scored in the second half. Man of the match Adrien Silva recorded a double, defender Tobias Figuerido scored the third, and forward Slimani scored the fourth late in the match.

The “B” side also played their 2nd to last match of the season against Maritimo “B”. A late converted penalty for Maritimo cancelled Diego Rubio’s first half goal for a 1-1 final.
