Morgan Marlborough’s second half strike gave the Breakers an opportunity to extend their unbeaten streak to five, but that hope was dashed by a late Jess Fishlock goal, which gave the Seattle Reign a 3-2 win at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium on Sunday.

Ten minutes after Marlborough made it a 2-2 game in the 76th minute, Fishlock took a feed from Kim Little and fired a shot past Jami Kranich to put the Reign up for good in the 86th minute.

Kristie Mewis opened the scoring inside of 14 minutes to give the hosts the early lead before Little pulled one back for the guests in the 42nd minute. Beverly Yanez gave the Reign its first lead in the 66th minute.

With the loss, the Breakers unbeaten streak was snapped at four (2-0-2). The Reign were able to extended their unbeaten run to five straight (3-0-2).

The Breakers will return to action on Sunday, Jun. 28 when they host the Western New York Flash at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm.
