For the third straight season, the summer transfer window came and went without a player move for the Revolution.

The window, which closed at 5:00pm ET, allowed MLS teams to request the transfer certificate of a player under contract in another country. The window opened on Jul. 8.

The last player the Revolution acquired during the summer transfer window was Dimitry Imbongo, who was added via free transfer in July 2012. The move came days after the Revolution’s biggest summer transfer signing, which lured Honduran forward Jerry Bengtson to Foxborough from Motagua (Honduras). The Bengtson move proved to be an expensive one, as the fees required to obtain the transfer were spread out over the course of at three seasons, and made the Honduran a designated player.

Although the window closed without new acquistion for the locals, the Revolution front office still has time to acquire a player via free transfer or trade. MLS teams have until the Sept. 15 roster freeze date to make additions to their roster. In fact, the biggest signing in Revolution history – designated player Jermaine Jones – came weeks after last year’s summer window closed.

The Revolution currently have 26 players on the roster, with an additional spot available after defender Darrius Barnes was placed on the disabled list in April.
