New England Revolution captain Jermaine Jones still hasn’t played more than 60 minutes in a match since returning to MLS action on Aug. 1 after sports hernia in June, but was deemed fit enough by Jurgen Klinsmann for a return to the U.S. National Team. Klinsmann named Jones to his 23-man roster on Sunday to face Peru on Sept. 4 in Washington, D.C. and Brazil on Sept. 8 in Foxboro, Mass.

The matches would be the first time Jones sees action since February for the U.S. Jones is expected to miss the Revolution’s Sept. 5 match against Orlando City while with the national team.

The U.S. is currently preparing for an Oct. 10 match-up with Mexico that will decide which team makes the Confederations Cup as well as the start of World Cup qualifying in November.

Klinsmann’s roster has a few surprises, such as including just one listed fullback, Greg Garza, though DeAndre Yedlin and Geoff Cameron have seen time at the position. With Fabian Johnson, Timmy Chandler and DaMarcus Beasley out injured, Klinsmann surprisingly did not bring replacements into the roster, leaving the squad shockingly thin in wide players both in defense and the midfield.

U.S. Roster by Position:
GOALKEEPERS (3) : Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), William Yarbrough (Club Leon)
DEFENDERS (8) : Ventura Alvarado (Club America), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Greg Garza (Atlas), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham)
MIDFIELDERS (7) : Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Joe Corona (Veracruz), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Alfredo Morales (FC Ingolstadt), Danny Williams (Reading), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur)
