Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones was one of 23 players called into U.S. Men’s National Team camp for the Oct. 10 CONCACAF Cup against Mexico.

Jones, who was recently called in for friendlies against Peru and Brazil, will join the U.S. following Saturday’s Revolution-Fire MLS match.  He will not miss any league action, as the Revolution will be on a bye week next weekend.

“This roster is obviously full of experience,” said U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann in a federation release on Saturday. “This is about having a group of players who understand exactly now what this is all about. This is about momentum. This is about high energy. This is about representing my country. This is about belief and a high-level of aggressiveness in a one-off game to beat Mexico and to get to the Confederations Cup.”

Three other players with local ties were also called into U.S. camp. Attleboro, Mass. native and Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron, Boston College product and Nantes midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, and former New England Revolution star and current Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey, will all join the U.S. ahead of the historic match.

The U.S. and Mexico were pitted against each for the 2017 Confederations Cup spot after former won the 2013 tournament, while the latter won the 2015 edition. The clash will kick off at 9:30pm ET on Oct. 10 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

“It’s a unique opportunity,” Klinsmann said, “and you have to embrace it and give everything you have.”
