Mulgrew Available for Waiver Draft

Midfielder/forward Timi Mulgrew, who had his option declined by the Revolution last month, is among the 25 players available for the MLS Waiver Draft, which will be held on Wednesday.

Mulgrew, 23, was signed by the Revolution prior to the start of the 2015 season, and was subsequently loaned to the club’s USL affiliate in Rochester.

He played in 15 games, starting three of them, while accumulating 405 minutes worth of action with the Rhinos. He did not see any time with the Revolution first team.

Mulgrew was one of six players who had their options declined by the Revolution last month. Defenders Kevin Alston and Jeremy Hall will be eligible for the Re-Entry Draft, which will take place on Friday.

Goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg, along with midfielders Tyler Rudy and Steve Neumann had their options declined as well, but did not appear on the Waiver Draft list. As such, the Revolution will continue to hold its right of first refusal for all three.

The Revolution currently sit in the 10th spot for Wednesday’s Waiver Draft, which will commence at 4:30pm ET.

The Waiver Draft consists of players who have been waived by their clubs and are not eligible for the Re-Entry Draft or Free Agency.

Under contract players who are selected in the Waiver Draft will be automatically added to the drafting club’s roster. Clubs that claim Out-of-Contract players must issue a genuine offer to the selected player.
