Cameron Helps Stoke Beat Man U

gEOFF-2

It was a thrilling Boxing Day for at least one local footballer on Saturday.

Attleboro, Mass. native Geoff Cameron helped Stoke City stake a 2-0 triumph over Manchester United in front of 27,426 at Brittania Stadium.

Cameron, who went 75 minutes before he was substituted for Charlie Adam, helped pitch the shut out for the Potters.

“Geoff had a little bit of tightness,” Stoke manager Mark Hughes told the club’s official website. “But we are hopeful that he will be OK in time for the game on Monday.”

Cameron missed the Potters previous match, a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Dec. 19, due an ongoing hamstring strain.

Following the match, the 30-year-old defender took to Twitter to express his thoughts about Saturday’s win.

Bojan Krkic kicked off the holiday festivities for the home side when he tallied in the 19th minute. Marko Arnautovic doubled the lead moments later when he struck in the 26th minute.

With the win, Stoke owns the 10th spot on the EPL table with 26 points while Manchester’s defeat keeps them on 29 points, an amount that puts them in a two-way tie for sixth place with Watford.
