A host of fresh faces descended upon the ForeKicks indoor facility in Taunton, Mass. where the new-look Boston Breakers kicked off their preseason camp on Monday.

No fewer than 11 newcomers joined the NWSL side for its first training session of 2016. In addition to draft picks Abby Smith, Christen Westphal, and Brittany Ratcliff, the Breakers welcomed former New England Mutiny keeper Jenna Fischer, as well as Clare Pleuler, who starred at Boston University.

The most notable newcomer is head coach Matt Beard, who took the reins last fall following the departure of Tom Durkin.

While there were number of new names in camp on Monday, the club welcomed back familiar faces in Jami Kranich, Morgan Marlborough, Stephanie McCaffrey and Katie Schoepfer.

Starting striker Kyah Simon, who was re-acquired last summer, is expected to report next week. Newly-acquired defender Whitney Egan will report on Wednesday.

The club resumes camp on Tuesday, and will remain in the area for the duration of the week. Their first preseason game is set for Sunday against Northeastern University at Parsons Field in Brookline, Mass.

Days after their scrimmage against Northeastern, the Breakers will depart for Jacksonville, Fla. for an eight-day preseason trip.
