Chris Roswess scored for the second straight game to help the Western Mass Pioneers claim a 2-2 draw against the Long Island Rough Riders on Saturday at Donnelly Stadium in Huntington, N.Y.

Roswess, who tallied in the Pioneers’ season opener against Seacoast United last week, opened the scoring on Saturday in the 31st minute.

Former Worcester Hydra midfielder Colin Murphy brought one back for the hosts in the 44th minute before Mauricio Coimbra reclaimed the Western Mass lead in the 76th minute. But Shaun Foster leveled it once and for all in the 86th minute.

“It’s good to get points on the road against two tough teams, but it is bad that we let up last minute goals in both games,” Pioneers head coach Federico Molinari told the media after the match. “We are going to work on it this week in practice and be ready to play FA Euro on Sunday.”

Pioneers goalkeeper Nick Zucco made four saves to steer the Pioneers to a valuable road point.

Western Mass will return to action on Sunday, May 22 when they open their home slate against F.A. Euro at Lusitano Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:00pm.
