Seeing Red (& White): Revs Unveil New Kit

The rumor of a half-and-half red and white Revolution kit proved to be true on Sunday as the club unveiled their new secondary uniform at Gillette Stadium.

The new design was leaked on Saturday by Footy Headlines, though visuals of shorts and socks were not revealed until Sunday’s unveiling. The half-red, half-white jersey will be paired with shorts and white socks.

Similar to their previous secondary kit, the red and white motif is a tribute to the flag of New England, which the club adopted as a secondary logo in 2012.

“At every level of our organization, we aim to represent our community in New England and remain authentic to the sport,” said Revolution President Brian Bilello in a club release. “This new kit embodies those values and I look forward to seeing our team wear it with the same pride with which we represent our region and the game of soccer.”

Revolution midfielders Lee Nguyen, Kelyn Rowe, Xavier Kouassi, Diego Fagundez and Scott Caldwell, along with forward Kei Kamara, all modeled the new look during Sunday’s unveiling.

The newest edition of the Revolution secondary ensemble is the first in club history to feature the half-and-half design, which has been most notably worn by English side Blackburn Rovers.

Revolution supporters will likely see the new kit in action during First Kick, which will pit the local XI against the Colorado Rapids in Commerce City, Co. on Mar. 4.
