Breakers Win Preseason Opener

The Boston Breakers kicked off their preseason slate with a 5-1 victory over Boston College on Saturday at Newton Campus Lacrosse & Soccer Field in Newton, Mass.
Adriana Leon led the way with a hat trick (2nd, 68th, and 86th minutes) while Rosie White (88th minute) and Ifeoma Onumonu (90th minute) chipped in with goals of their. Boston College’s lone goal arrived in the 31st minute.
“We’re pleased with the result and to get some goals today. It’s a good start for us,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “We’re nowhere near the level we can get to. (But) from my perspective that’s good that we’ve got a starting base and we can move on from there.”
Sixteen players saw action for the Breakers in Saturday’s opener. Three rookies accounted for a goal and three assists, including Onumonu (1 goal, 1 assist), Rose Lavelle (1 assist), and Hayley Dowd (1 assist).
The Breakers will resume their preseason schedule on Tuesday when they face the New England Futbol Club U-15 boys at Forekicks in Taunton, Mass. Kickoff is 7:00pm.
