Boston City FC claimed its first win of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over New York Athletic Club in New Rochelle, N.Y.

Kamali Webson gave the guests a lead right out of the gate by tallying inside of four minutes while Homero Morais widened the gap with a goal of his own in the sixth minute. Goalkeeper Vitor Scariot denied a late bid from Laurin Vogel to collect the clean sheet.

The Lions were without key contributors Jhonata Batista (unavailable), Yaw Addow (injury), and skipper Ronaldo Vieira (injury). But those absences didn’t impair Boston City’s offense in the slightest.

Webson, who started up top in place of Batista, capitalized on a defensive miscue between keeper Andre Wilkinson and defender Makesi Lewis and tucked it into the back of the net only four minutes after the opening whistle.

Not long after the early goal celebration, Boston City added another when Isaac Addai and Luca Tarable combined to find Morais at the far post for the second strike of the game.

Scariot was largely untested until the 90th minute when Vogel’ curling effort was pushed away to preserve the shutout.

With the win, Boston City improved to four points (1-1-0) while NYAC (0-1-0) will have to wait until next week to find its first points of 2017.

The Lions have a quick turnaround for their next match as they head to Ludlow, Mass. for Wednesday’s first round U.S. Open Cup tie against the Western Mass Pioneers at Ludlow Stadium.
