Michael Bradley scored from distance and the U.S. held on to squeeze a point from Sunday’s World Cup Qualifier against Mexico at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

Bradley opened the scoring when he blasted a shot from 40 yards that beat Guillermo Ochoa off his line to put the guests ahead inside of six minutes. But the lead didn’t last long as Carlos Vela corralled a pass from Javier Hernandez and sent it through to put the match back on level terms in the 23rd minute.

With the draw, the U.S. now has eight points in the final round of qualifying, good for third place. Mexico remains atop the qualifying table with 14 points.

The U.S. will return to action on Jul. 1 when they host Ghana in Hartford, Ct. for a pre-Gold Cup friendly at Pratt & Whitney Stadium.
