Revs Make 11th Hour Move for Nemeth

Better late than never?
The 10th-place Revolution are certainly hoping so after they acquired Hungarian international and former Sporting Kansas City forward Krisztian Nemeth in an 11th hour transfer deal completed on the cusp of the close of the summer transfer window.
“We are pleased to have acquired Krisztián and look forward to him making an impact this season,” said Revolution General Manager Michael Burns in a team release. “Krisztián is a proven goal scorer in this league and abroad. We believe the leadership and experience he brings to New England will make him an immediate asset.”
The Revolution traded $200,000 in Targeted Allocation Money in 2018, $200,000 in General Allocation Money in 2018, and an international roster spot until Dec. 31, 2018 to the Columbus Crew who used their top ranking in the MLS Allocation Ranking Order to acquire Nemeth before sending him to New England. The transfer fee the league paid for Nemeth to Al-Gharafa is not known at this time, though it isn’t believed to be close to the $3 million transfer fee Al-Gharafa paid for Nemeth’s services in Jan. 2016.
The Revolution officially announced the acquisition on Thursday. The move also means the Revolution have gone from second to first in the MLS Allocation Ranking Order.
In adding Nemeth to the fold, New England landed their star addition, who was rumored to be returning to MLS return during the transfer window. Nemeth spent the 2015 season with Kansas City, where he scored 11 goals in 28 games. He was named MLS Player of the Month for May 2015, during which he scored two goals and collected an assist against the Revolution in a 4-2 Kansas City win on May 20, 2015.
Following the 2015 season, Nemeth was transferred to Al-Gharafa of Qatar in January 2016. He has also spent time with Olympiacos, Roda JC, and AEK Athens during his career.
Nemeth gives the Revolution an immediate attacking threat to their front line that already has Lee Nguyen, Juan Agudelo, and Kei Kamara.
