PDL Season Openers Announced

The Premier Development League (PDL) released its schedule on Thursday, with three newly-formed New England clubs set to make their debuts on Saturday, May 5.

CFC Azul will host Boston Victory SC at Yale University Reese Stadium (7:30pm) in New Haven, Conn. while Worcester Hydra will play its first game against the re-branded Seacoast United (formerly New Hampshire Phantoms) at Foley Stadium (7:00pm) in Worcester, Mass.

Boston Victory will host its first home game on Saturday, May 12 when they welcome Worcester to Veterans Memorial Stadium (7:30pm)  in Quincy, Mass.

Meanwhile, New England’s remaining PDL clubs – MPS Portland Phoenix, Vermont Voltage and Western Mass Pioneers – will commence their regular season schedules the weekend of May 11-13. The Pioneers will face Seacoast United on Friday, May 11 at Lusitano Stadium (7:30pm) in Ludlow, Mass., while MPS Portland will host Vermont at Deering High School (6:00pm) in Portland, Maine on Saturday, May 12.

The seven New England-based squads will play in the revamped, eight-team Northeast Division, which also includes the Ottawa Fury. Last year, MPS Portland captured the division crown with an 8-3-5 (29 pts.) record.

The 2012 PDL season officially kicks off on April 22 in Fresno, Calif., where the Fresno Fuego will host L.A. Misioneros FC at Chukchansi Park.
