Junior Alencar’s two goals led the Hydra to their first three PDL points in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Boston Victory at Veterans Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n

Alencar broke a scoreless tie in the 70th minute, then padded Worcester’s cushion in the 77th minute. Hydra keeper Oliver Blum made a pair of save to keep the sheet clean for the guests.<\/p>\n

“Junior is an exceptional player,\u201d Worcester head coach Elvis Comrie said in a statement. \u201cLast week he hit the post like four times, should have scored four goals last week. It\u2019s good to see him get off the mark and get a couple of goals for himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a scrappy, physical first half that saw 16 fouls total and three yellow cards issued to the hosts, the Hydra turned up the heat in the second frame.<\/p>\n

In the 70th minute, Michael Soboff sent a cross into the area, where Alencar elevated to put the header past Jordan Bar to deliver the opening goal.<\/p>\n

Seven minutes later, Brett Utley breached the Boston backline chipped it to Alencar, who slipped through his second goal of the game in front of the stunned 546 home spectators.<\/p>\n

“It’s a hard loss to take in our own stadium,” Victory coach Sergio Taborda said in a statement. “We made mistakes that led to the two goals and that is very upsetting. We cannot let that happen.”<\/p>\n

Boston forward Lucas Pessanha, who scored the game-winner in last week’s 2-1 comeback win at CFC Azul, put three shots together to lead Victory’s attack, but could not get one past Blum on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Hydra head back to Foley Stadium on Saturday for a game against the Vermont Voltage. Boston hits the road on Friday for a Commonwealth clash against the Western Mass Pioneers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
