(Photo: Chris Aduama/aduama.com)

After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the New England Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Brian O’Connell and Ryan Lanigan contributed ratings for New England’s 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo.

Matt Reis – Average Rating: 5 (Brian 5, Ryan 5)
Command of the area wasn’t exceptional, and looked flat footed on Camargo’s goal at the near post. Not his best night. (Brian) … Not too much for Reis to do. I’m not sure many goalies would have saved Camargo’s late equalizer. (Ryan)

Chris Tierney – Average Rating: 5.75 (Brian 6, Ryan 5.5)
Struggled a bit against Carr, but made some nice runs forward, and helped set up the penalty in the 25th minute. Looked good on set pieces, too. (Brian) … As usual, he did well to get forward. His set pieces weren’t terrible, but nothing came of it. (Ryan)

Stephen McCarthy – Average Rating: 5.25 (Brian 5, Ryan 5.5)
Glaring mistake on Camargo goal, but he did an admirable job of canceling Ching for much of the evening. (Brian) … He made a mistake on the equalizer but it wasn’t solely his fault. He did well beyond that play the rest of the game.

AJ Soares – Average Rating: 5.5 (Brian 6, Ryan 5)
Strong against Bruin, and organized the rear well before Houston’s second goal. (Brian) … Anchored the back line again. It looks like it might have been Soares trying to cover Bruin on the first Houston goal, though. (Ryan)

Kevin Alston – Average Rating: 5.5 (Brian 6, Ryan 5)
Another strong performance; kept Davis quiet from the run of play and helped shut down Houston’s left flank. (Brian) … He did well for the most of the game, but got beat a couple times and is a ghost when pushing forward in the final third. (Ryan)

Lee Nguyen – Average Rating: 6.25 (Brian 6.5, Ryan 6)
Attacking catalyst all night, and helped contain Carr, who was clearly frustrated by it. (Brian) … Whenever the Revs had a solid attack, it seemed to start on his side of the field, or by him creating space to stretch the field. (Ryan)

Ryan Guy – Average Rating: 5.5 (Brian 5, Ryan 6)
Hard for him to channel Simms in an unfamiliar role. Weak challenge on the duel with Colin Clark led to the Camargo goal. (Brian) … Tough shoes to fill but he did well and more importantly, he went a full 90. (Ryan)

Shalrie Joseph – Average Rating: 6.5 (Brian 7, Ryan 6)
A beast in the midfield; sound passing, bolstered the team in transition, and knocked on the door early. (Brian) … He did well defensively but his first touch seemed to be a bit off. He did well to organize the team, though. (Ryan)

Benny Feilhaber – Average Rating: 4.75 (Brian 4.5, Ryan 5)
Sharp form early gave way to more frustration in the second half. Passes were off and coughed it up too often. (Brian) … There are times that fans will want to see that kind of passion from Benny, but I’m not sure if he channeled it the right way. Otherwise, average game. (Ryan)

Saer Sene – Average Rating: 7.25 (Brian 7.5, Ryan 7)
Brilliant performance; most dangerous player on the field, had a sensational finish on the second goal, and played some good balls to teammates. (Brian) … He’s pretty good with the ball at his feet, but he turned it over early. He did well though and was easily the best player on the field. (Ryan)

Blake Brettschneider – Average Rating: 6 (Brian 6, Ryan 6)
Despite the indecisive marking on Bruin’s goal, he put himself in good positions and pestered the Dynamo all night. (Brian) … A lot of credit has to go to him for the Revs second goal. He tangled with Geoff Cameron at midfield, allowing Sene to take control. (Ryan)

[20,3
