When the Revolution signed Shalrie Joseph to a designated player deal in December, the first question that came to mind was the most obvious one: For how much?<\/p>\n

On Friday, the\u00a0MLS Players Union answered that question when it released its\u00a0first list of players salaries\u00a0for 2012.<\/p>\n

According to the list,\u00a0the total guaranteed\u00a0compensation for the Revolution skipper this season will\u00a0total $554,333 after\u00a0he earned\u00a0$500,000 in 2011\u00a0(10% increase).\u00a0However, as a designated player, the\u00a0cap hit for Joseph’s salary is $350,000.<\/p>\n

After Joseph, the highest earners on the squad\u00a0include Benny Feilhaber ($446,000), John Lozano ($241,485), right back Kevin Alston ($169,000), Matt Reis ($159,666) and Kelyn Rowe ($156,000).\u00a0Because\u00a0Rowe is a\u00a0member of generation adidas, the Revolution do not incur a cap hit\u00a0for his six-figure salary.<\/p>\n

Other notable salary figures include those of high-profile offseason signing Jose Moreno ($149,000),\u00a0current Revolution\u00a0goalscoring leader Saer Sene ($148,843) and second-year starting center back A.J. Soares ($116,450).<\/p>\n

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the list for New England is Lee Nguyen’s cap-friendly $55,500 salary. Another high-performing, lower-budget\u00a0player on the list\u00a0is\u00a0Clyde Simms, who’ll earn $78,333 after making a $179,2500 salary with D.C. United\u00a0in 2011.<\/p>\n
