Fresh off their first win of the season, the Vermont Voltage made it a streak by beating the Boston Victory, 3-0, to finally jump out of the cellar of the PDL Northeast Division.<\/p>\n
The Voltage (2-8-2, 8 points) leapfrogged over the Victory (2-8-1, 7 points) into seventh place in the eight team Northeast Division with the win at South Burlington High School on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is good to be on a winning streak and it feels good to get the shut out tonight,\u201d said Voltage ream owner\/player Bo Vuckovic in a club release. \u201cWe played well and really moved the ball around.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bozidar Jelovac picked up where he left off, putting the Voltage in the lead just 12 minutes into the match. Jelovac, who scored a hat trick in the Voltage\u2019s 5-3 over the Seacoast United Phantoms on Sunday, was on the end of a through ball from Etienne Boulanger and dribbled around the \u2018keeper before slotting it into the net for his fourth goal of the season.<\/p>\n
Things got even worse for Boston \u2013 and better for Vermont \u2013 when Ruben Resendes was ejected for blocking a shot on the line with his hand, also earning the Voltage a penalty kick. Captain Liam Gilbert sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot and put the Voltage up 2-0 before halftime. It was Gilbert\u2019s first goal of the season.<\/p>\n
The Voltage, who took 15 of their 19 shots in the second half, would add to their lead with Ognjen Perucica\u2019s fourth goal of the season.<\/p>\n
The Voltage, who remain home for the rest of the season, face the Worcester Hydra on Saturday at 7pm at South Burlington High School. The Victory return home to face the Western Mass Pioneers on Saturday at 7pm at Veterans Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
