After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the New England Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Sean Donahue and Julian Cardillo contributed ratings for the\u00a0New England Revolution\u2019s 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls.<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Bobby Shuttleworth<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.75<\/strong> (Sean 6.5, Julian 5)
\nWon\u2019t get a much easier night, but commanded his box well and was more vocal with his backline. (Sean) \u2026 Had little to do, but seemed confident and communicated well with his defense. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Kevin Alston<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6.25<\/strong> (Sean 6.5, Julian 6)
\nOverran Kenny Cooper on his dangerous shot, but otherwise a solid night defensively and found some success going forward. (Sean) \u2026 Good runs out of the back, but got beaten by poor positioning a few times. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Stephen McCarthy<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: \u00a06.25 <\/strong>(Sean 6, Julian 6.5)
\nKept up his good run of form with another strong performance. (Sean) \u2026 Good job taking care of Cooper and some impressive, well-timed sliding tackles. (Julian)<\/p>\n

A.J. Soares<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6.5<\/strong> (Sean 6.5, Julian 6.5)
\nGone were the mistakes of the past two games and back was one of the best center backs in the league. (Sean) \u2026 Positioning and partnership with McCarthy were great, but the duo did almost let Cooper score in the second half. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Chris Tierney<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.5<\/strong> (Sean 6, Julian 5)
\nStruggled a little with Dane Richards early, but held his own against the faster opponent as the game went on. Put a few dangerous balls into the box and had a nice assist on Nguyen\u2019s goal. (Sean) \u2026 Beaten for speed at left back and didn\u2019t step up to take the set pieces. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Clyde Simms<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6.25<\/strong> (Sean 6.5, Julian 6)
\nFullbacks must love playing with Simms as more often than not, he\u2019s there to cover when they go forward or quick to provide valuable support as a second defender. Only three of his passes (not counting headers) didn\u2019t connect. (Sean) \u2026 Per usual, he cleaned up messes in midfield and did well to help out defensively. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Benny Feilhaber<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.75<\/strong> (Sean 5.5, Julian 6)
\nAfter a great June, Feilhaber started July fairly quietly. Probably should\u2019ve done better with his first half chance and faded in the second half before getting subbed out. (Sean) \u2026 Silent game, though his set pieces were much better. Would have liked to see him go full 90. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Kelyn Rowe<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/strong> (Sean 4.5, Julian 5)
\nFor whatever reason, he rarely saw the ball and had little impact in his time on the field. (Sean) \u2026Should have been subbed out earlier, especially since he was silent out wide. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Lee Nguyen<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 7<\/strong> (Sean 7, Julian 7)
\nGreat finish and would\u2019ve had an assist or two if his forwards had taken their chances. (Sean) \u2026 Great catalyst in midfield and fantastic shot from range to get the goal. Really the playmaker in this game. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Blake Brettschneider<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5<\/strong> (Sean 4.5, Julian 5.5)
\nSo many chances and nothing to show for it. Effort was there, but with better finishing Brettschneider could\u2019ve and should\u2019ve had a few goals and probably a hat trick. (Sean) \u2026 Positioning: Brilliant. Finishing: Terrible. (Julian)<\/p>\n

Saer Sene<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6 <\/strong>(Sean 6, Julian 6)
\nFinishing let him down again, but passing in the final third was great, creating chances for both Brettschneider and Feilhaber. Got away with a shove, but his effort led to Bengtson\u2019s goal. (Sean) \u2026 Finishing was poor on more than one occasion, but he set up some nice attacks. (Julian)<\/p>\n

(sub) Jerry Bengtson<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 6.25<\/strong> (Sean 6.5, Julian 6)
\nScoring on one end and saving a shot off the line with a header on the other \u2013 can\u2019t ask for much more than that in a 30 minute debut. (Sean) \u2026 Easy finish on the goal and very admirable to stay up top and claw for chances on his own. (Julian)<\/p>\n

(sub) Shalrie Joseph<\/strong> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.75<\/strong> (Sean 5.5, Julian 6)
\nProvided some needed energy off the bench when he first came in, but soon seemed to be showing signs of injury as he was moving around. (Sean) \u2026 Really interesting to see him come in fresh with 20 minutes left to play. Not much of a factor, but was moving gingerly. (Julian)<\/p>\n
