The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended New England Revolution midfielder Kelyn Rowe for one match and fined the rookie an undisclosed amount for a challenge on New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan Meara in the Revs 2-0 victory on Sunday, July 8. Rowe will miss the Revs game on Saturday, July 14, against Toronto FC.<\/p>\n

In what seemed to be incidental contact, Rowe\u2019s leg collided with Meara\u2019s head, while chasing down a through pass from Shalrie Joseph in the 87th minute. Both players were shaken up on the play and Rowe was substituted out of the match soon after.<\/p>\n

Referee Drew Fischer issued no card on the play and didn\u2019t seem to whistle for a foul, only stopping play when both players remained down. The MLS Disciplinary Committee, however, saw things differently, calling it a \u201ca reckless challenge that endangered the safety of his opponent (Meara).\u201d<\/p>\n
