FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Darrius Barnes’ 95th minute goal erased the Red Bulls’ hopes of ending their 15-game winless streak at Gillette Stadium in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.<\/span><\/p>\n

Barnes, whose game-tying goal also marked the first of his career, put the game level for good minutes after Joel Lindpere snapped a scoreless tie in the 91st minute.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bobby Shuttleworth, who got the start over starter Matt Reis, stopped three shots in his first action since July. Red Bulls’ keeper Bill Gaudette collected four saves, and picked up a yellow card for time-wasting in the 88th minute.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though their playoff fantasies were cancelled following last week’s 2-1 loss in D.C., the Revolution did well to assert themselves early against the third-place Red Bulls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Early on, it appeared the guests were content to settle for the draw after they spent much of their time fouling rather than going forward. in fact, a pair of fouls in the vicinity of the box gave way to the hosts first real chances. But Lee Nguyen’s first free kick went wide of the left post, while Barnes redirected the second effort wide of the same post minutes later.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tim Cahill grabbed the Red Bulls first opportunity in the 37th minute after Joel Lindpere placed a tempting ball in front. But Cahill’s shot screamed wide of the far post.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cahill made another bid for the opening goal in the 72nd minute when he nodded a shot that nearly\u00a0went through. But Shuttleworth arrived just in time to lower the gate.<\/span><\/p>\n

But after 90 minutes failed to separate the sides, Lindpere put his club on top after he put through a loose ball into an open net after Shuttleworth and Cahill battled for Wilman Conde cross in the 91st minute.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minutes later, Barnes put it back on level terms when he converted a Ryan Guy cross into the back of the net, as the final whistle\u00a0screeched seconds later.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Revolution return to action on\u00a0Sept. 29 when they head to Houston to face the Dynamo at BBVA Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:30pm ET.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
