Former Boston University\u00a0midfielder Michael Bustamante signed a deal with the New York Red Bulls on Friday.<\/p>\n
The 23-year-old prospect was selected by Red Bulls in the first round (13th overall) of last month’s supplemental draft. He scored in the club’s preseason tilt against\u00a0Real Salt Lake\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n
“Proud to be a New York Red Bull,” Bustamante said via Twitter following the news.<\/p>\n
Bustamante was a four-time America East All-Conference First Team and NSCAA All-Northeast Region selection at BU. He scored nine goals and racked up 27 assists in 69 games during his college career.<\/p>\n
Last summer, he featured for the now-defunct\u00a0Worcester Hydra (PDL), where he scored three goals and added three assists.<\/p>\n
