If the North American Soccer Reporters are correct, the New England Revolution are in for another disappointing season in 2013. Members of the NASR, a unified group of North American soccer journalists, selected the Revolution to finish ninth in the Eastern Conference for the second season in a row. Last year\u2019s NASR Preseason Poll accurately predicted the Revolution\u2019s ninth place finish.<\/p>\n
Not all of the poll\u2019s 18 voters were in agreement, however, as two voters picked the Revolution to finish fourth in the East, while every other voter predicted seventh or worse.<\/p>\n
Half of the voters believed Honduran striker Jerry Bengtson was the Revolution\u2019s \u201cMost Important Player\u201d this season, while three voters picked Lee Nguyen. Matt Reis, Diego Fagundez and Kelyn Rowe also received votes. Former Revolution midfielder Jeff Larentowicz was selected as the Chicago Fire\u2019s \u201cMost Important Player\u201d, while Benny Feilhaber, another former Revolution midfielder, received two votes as Sporting Kansas City\u2019s \u201cMost Important Player\u201d.<\/p>\n
Kansas City was selected to finish atop the Conference with the Houston Dynamo, D.C. United, New York Red Bulls, and Chicago Fire predicted to join them in the playoffs. The Seattle Sounders were picked to finish first in the West, with the Los Angeles Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake, and Vancouver Whitecaps also expected to secure postseason spots.<\/p>\n
