After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the New England Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Brian O\u2019Connell and Sean Donahue contributed ratings for the\u00a0New England Revolution\u2019s 1-0 loss to FC Dallas<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bobby Shuttleworth<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 5<\/b> (Brian 5, Sean 5)
\nStrong showing early, but suffered a few second half hiccups. Indecisive on Kenny Cooper header that was incorrectly called offside. (Brian) \u2026 Some solid stops from being quick off his line, but was lucky an offside call nullified Cooper\u2019s goal and looked shaky on a few other chances including a 43rd minute free kick he came out for, but didn\u2019t get as Dallas headed wide. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Kevin Alston<\/b> \u2013Average Rating: \u00a04.5<\/b> (Brian 5, Sean 4)
\nThrow-ins improved, and passing amongst his fellow defenders was sharp. But forward passes and dreadful finish alone on Fernandez didn’t help Revs cause. (Brian) \u2026 Wasted the Revolution\u2019s best chance of the night with a weak shot and was exposed defensively at times. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Jose Goncalves<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/b> (Brian 5, Sean 4.5)
\nWasn’t afraid to incorporate some muscle and did well to track back and disrupt Dallas’ attack early, but poor positioning on Perez allowed him to score the winner. (Brian) …. Some solid play defensively, but communication between the backline seemed problematic at times as Cooper was allowed free to score his incorrectly ruled offside goal and lost Perez on the goal. Too many long balls. (Sean)<\/p>\n

A.J. Soares<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.5<\/b> (Brian 5.5, Sean 5.5)
\nSolid throughout; kept the ball on the ground more often this week, but too often tried the ambitious pass rather than the safe one. (Brian) \u2026 See above about some communication issues, but overall a good outing with a couple of brave blocks. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Andrew Farrell<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.5<\/b> (Brian 5.5, Sean 5.5)
\nMade a number contributions on both ends of the pitch; fortunate that Jackson could only flail at Kenny Cooper’s 14th minute pass across goal. (Brian) \u2026 Added some spark to the attack when he went forward and did well defensively, though he was caught forward on a few occasions. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Diego Fagundez<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.5<\/b> (Brian 5.5, Sean 5.5)
\nCreated some early chances and played a solid games; unfortunate not to get better wood on his 34th minute shot. (Brian) \u2026 Looked dangerous when he had the ball, but didn\u2019t see enough of it. Needed to do better with his first half chance. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Clyde Simms<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 5<\/b> (Brian 5, Sean 5)
\nHelped plug some of the gaps in the back, but his inability to spring an attacker didn’t help the offense. (Brian) \u2026 Not one of his best nights as far as maintaining possession. Good effort breaking up attacks down the center, but struggled to link with Toja. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Juan Toja<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/b> (Brian 4.5, Sean 5)
\nFreelanced far too often; teammates struggled to find him in space and dropped back too much. (Brian) \u2026 Positioning was questionable as a center midfielder and sometimes played too slowly, but still seemed to be involved in just about every dangerous Revolution attack. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Lee Nguyen<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 5.25<\/b> (Brian 5.5, Sean 5)
\nPassing wasn’t great but almost beat Fernandez late. Seemed out of his element on the right. (Brian) \u2026 Didn\u2019t look as comfortable on the right, passing was a bit off and his three shot attempts never really threatened the net. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Ryan Guy<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/b> (Brian 5, Sean 4.5)
\nIn the withdrawn forward’s role, Guy struggled to get on same page with Bengtson and Toja. (Brian) \u2026 Invisible for much of the first half. Partnership up top just never seemed to click. (Sean)<\/p>\n

Jerry Bengtson<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.75<\/b> (Brian 4.5, Sean 5)
\nNearly scored the game-winner before Fernandez lifted it over the bar; lost the ball too frequently, but wasn’t helped by Toja’s runs. (Brian) \u2026 Came closest to scoring with his header off Toja\u2019s cross and set up a great chance for Toja with a cross of his own. Effort seemed to be there all night despite his busy international schedule, but didn\u2019t get many chances and passing wasn\u2019t great. (Sean)<\/p>\n

(sub) Kelyn Rowe<\/b> \u2013 Average Rating: 4.5 (Brian 4.5, Sean 4.5)
\nPasses were good when he kept it simple; yellow card was a little unjustified. (Brian) \u2026 Got a yellow card quickly after coming on for grabbing Jackson\u2019s shirt after he was beat. Didn\u2019t manage to have much of an impact on the offense. (Sean)<\/p>\n
