The New England Revolution today announced the signing of veteran defender Didier Domi. The 32-year-old Frenchman will join the team pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and will occupy one of the team\u2019s eight international roster spots.<\/p>\n
Domi has spent his entire 14-year career in Europe, playing for France\u2019s Paris Saint-Germain, England\u2019s Newcastle United and Leeds United, Spain\u2019s Espanyol, and most recently Greece\u2019s Olympiacos.<\/p>\n
\u201cDidier brings extensive experience playing at the top levels throughout Europe and he will add leadership and composure to our backline,\u201d Revolution Vice President of Player Personnel Michael Burns said. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to getting Didier in to camp and integrating him into our team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Domi played in the prestigious UEFA Champions League with PSG and won the French Cup and French Legue cup in 1998. With Espanyol, he claimed the 2005-06 Copa del Rey. In his recent stint with Olympiacos, the team won the Greek Super League three times and the Greek FA Cup twice.<\/p>\n
Domi had trained with the Revolution at the end of September and early October and stuck around to view the Revs 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake on October 2nd at Gillette Stadium.<\/p>\n
Domi adds needed experience to the Revs backline and will likely be inserted into the Revs starting line-up at left back.<\/p>\n
