Three days after\u00a0trimming\u00a0their roster down to 15, the Revolution made their first addition of the offseason\u00a0by selecting former Montreal midfielder Paolo DelPiccolo in Monday’s Waiver Draft.<\/p>\n

DelPiccolo, a 22-year-old midfielder, was waived by the Impact after the conclusion of the 2013 regular season. He did not see action with the first team, but did score a pair of goals in MLS Reserve League action.<\/p>\n

He will be formally added to the\u00a0Revoluion roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per league and club policies, further contract details were not released.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaolo provides us another option in the midfield,\u201d Revolution general manager Michael Burns said in a team release on Monday. \u201cWe believe he has the potential to be a productive player in MLS.\u201d<\/p>\n

DelPiccolo was drafted by the Impact in the second round of the 2013 SuperDraft, and originally bypassed the opportunity to play in Montreal in favor of a look with Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga, where he played for the club’s reserve team.<\/p>\n

He resurfaced in MLS on Jul. 5 when he signed a deal with Impact, and found\u00a0opportunities to showcase his skills\u00a0with the reserve team.<\/p>\n

The addition of DelPiccolo to the Revolution roster reunites him with former Louisville Cardinal teammate and current Revolution right back Andrew Farrell. Following the news of DelPiccolo’s selection, Farrell tweeted the following:<\/p>\n

DelPiccolo was only one of two players selected in Monday’s draft. Brad Stuver, who served as a MLS pool goalkeeper in 2013 and was the emergency backup for the Revolution in their Sept. 14 contest in Chicago, was selected by the Columbus\u00a0Crew.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
