For the first time since its inception in 2010, the\u00a0Re-Entry Process came and went without\u00a0a selection from the New England Revolution.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0passing in the\u00a0Stage 1\u00a0of the Process last Thursday, the Revolution\u00a0stayed on the sideline for Stage 2 on Wednesday, which saw seven players selected.<\/p>\n

Striker Fabian Espindola,\u00a0the player many\u00a0Revolution\u00a0supporters eyed\u00a0as a potential target, went first after he was taken by D.C. United, who also selected defender Nana Attakora in round two.\u00a0D.C. saw midfielder Dwayne DeRosario, the 2011 MLS MVP, taken by Toronto, where he\u00a0played from 2009-2011.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chad Barrett, who scored two goals and added 2 assists\u00a0in 19 games for the Revolution in 2013, was selected by the Seattle Sounders in round one.<\/p>\n

As for midfielders Ryan Guy, Clyde Simms and Juan Toja, all three are now available to all 19 clubs on a first-come, first-served basis after going unselected on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Even though the Revolution stood pat in both stages, coach Jay Heaps told revolutionsoccer.net prior to Stage 2 that he spent plenty of time scouting the players available in the Process.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe felt that we added some players that have helped us in the past,” said Heaps.\u00a0“I thought Clyde Simms was a major acquisition. But we\u2019ve had a couple guys not pan out in the Re-Entry. So it\u2019s an interesting mechanism that you have to do a lot of research on to make sure it\u2019s going to fit your team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
