After\u00a0putting together\u00a0a 9-1-2 record during the Fall 2013 portion of the Connecticut Soccer League schedule,\u00a0first-place Gremio Lusitano will kick off\u00a0its Spring 2014 schedule in Newtown, Conn. on Apr. 27 against Newtown Pride FC at Newtown High School. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm.<\/p>\n

The Ludlow (Mass.)-based XI, which re-entered the league last autumn following a 16-year hiatus, collected 29 points during the first half of the CSL season. They sit three points above second place HNK CT Croatia, which has an 8-1-2 record.<\/p>\n

“We are happy with the initial success of the Gremio in the Connecticut league after not having been in the league since 1997,” said head coach Jorge Ferreira in a team release on Monday.<\/p>\n

Western Mass Pioneers defender Jay Willis and midfielder Sam DeMello are among the players Ferreira should have it his disposal for the spring portion of the schedule.<\/p>\n

Gremio will resume its home schedule at 3:00pm on May 4 when they host Glastonbury Celtic at Lustiano Stadium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
