So much for getting acquainted with a new club.<\/p>\n

Less than four months after selecting him in the Waiver Draft last November, the New England\u00a0Revolution cut ties with midfielder Paolo DelPiccolo on Monday.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old central midfielder was drafted by the Impact in the second round of the 2013 SuperDraft. He was a college teammate of current Revolution right back Andrew Farrell, who reportedly helped convince the club to sign DelPiccolo.<\/p>\n

But after the club drafted a trio of midfielders in the 2014 SuperDraft – including two in the first round (Steve Neumann and Patrick Mullins) – it appeared that the former Impact midfielder would have a tougher time finding opportunities in preseason camp.<\/p>\n

In four preseason games with the Revolution this winter, DelPiccolo saw a combined 156 minutes, but did not record a goal or an assist.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining Montreal midway through the 2013 season, the Louisville product spent time with Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga.<\/p>\n

With the departure of DelPiccolo, the Revolution roster currently stands at 27 players, three short of the maximum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
