With the Revolution and Fire set to meet for the first time this season, let’s take a look at what the players and coaches were saying in preparation for\u00a0Saturday’s clash at Toyota Park.<\/p>\n

Revolution coach Jay Heaps (via revolutionsoccer.net):<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It’s very difficult, always, when you go on the road, it’s\u00a0very difficult to play a team like Chicago who’s\u00a0very good at home. So we have to go in there with the right gameplan, and the right mentality.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Fire assistant coach C.J. Brown (via Chicago-fire.com):<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I think the rivalry has definitely cooled down. You don’t have the same sort of attitudes and the fight as you did\u00a0before. But\u00a0this weekend, you\u00a0can start it up again. We’re fighting for points, so we gotta do whatever it takes to get started to show that we’re going to be in this league for real, and this has to start this weekend with the attitude defensively, and keep doing what we’re doing offensively. I think until you get to the top, the rivalry won’t start until you get around that area.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Revolution center back A.J. Soares (via revolutionsoccer.net):<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I expect a tough game. We kind of\u00a0battled with them last year a lot and jostling for position going up the table. Anytime we play them, it’s a tough game. It’s a good rivaly with some of the playoff results we’ve had against them in the past. It’s always a good team, they have the MVP (Mike Magee)\u00a0on their team, they have another forward who has\u00a0three goals already\u00a0in Quincy (Amerikwa). They’re going to be very good and we expect a very hard game and if we play our best, we’ll expect to win.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Fire midfielder Harry Shipp (via Chicago-fire.com):<\/strong><\/p>\n

“In the first half (of last week’s game in Montreal), we had a couple of really good looks on goal, we probably should’ve been up two or three-zero before they got their one chance, but that’s how soccer is, I think the key is to move past that, \u00a0we know we played well, we dominated stats-wise, we felt we had all the better chances, so we just have to build on the positives coming into this game,\u00a0and I think right now\u00a0it’s probably\u00a0at an all-time high confidence-wise, I think coming off that performance on the road bodes well going into this home game against New England.”<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
