Saturday night’s\u00a0match-up between the New England Revolution and D.C. United\u00a0was lacking in chances in the first half, but opened up in the second half with Patrick Mullins’ and Diego Fagundez’s second half goals for the Revolution sandwiching Fabian Espindola’s strike for D.C. New England held on for a 2-1\u00a0victory to continue their impressive run of form.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the key stats from Saturday\u2019s game:<\/p>\n

1 \u2013 New England was only caught offside once in the match. D.C. was caught offside four times, all four coming from Eddie Johnson, stifling a few potentially dangerous attacks.<\/p>\n

1 \u2013 Johnson picked up his first ever MLS red card in the 82nd<\/sup> minute, handing the Revolution a man advantage to close out the match. It was also Johnson\u2019s first card of the season.<\/p>\n

2 \u2013 A.J. Soares led all players with two blocked shots. Substitute Steve Neumann also had a blocked shot, clearing a chance off the line in the 89th<\/sup> minute to preserve the Revolution\u2019s lead.<\/p>\n

2 \u2013 New England\u2019s Kelyn Rowe and Diego Fagundez, and D.C.\u2019s Davy Arnaud led the match with two successful dribbles each. Rowe shared the lead despite not entering the game till the 53rd<\/sup> minute.<\/p>\n

3 \u2013Fagundez\u2019s goal was his third against D.C. United in his last four matches against the Revolution\u2019s rival.<\/p>\n

3 \u2013 New England\u2019s Lee Nguyen and Patrick Mullins, and D.C.\u2019s Cristian, led all players with three fouls suffered each.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 Fagundez and Mullins each scored their fourth goal of the season. Fagundez\u2019s four goals have all come in the past three games, while Mullins\u2019 goals have all come in the past four.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013Nguyen led all players with four chances created in the match.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 In his return from injury, Jose Goncalves led all players with four interceptions.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 Teal Bunbury led all players with four fouls committed.<\/p>\n

80 \u2013 D.C.\u2019s Chris Korb led all players with 80 touches. Cristian was second with 68, while Andrew Farrell was third and led the Revolution with 65.<\/p>\n

53% – D.C. United controlled 53% of the possession. It was the sixth straight match the Revolution had been out-possessed and ninth time in 12 matches this season. New England has lost just one of the matches in which they\u2019ve been out-possessed, while losing two of the three games in which they\u2019ve controlled possession. The Revolution have averaged 46.8% possession this season.<\/p>\n

54% – Mullins had the lowest passing accuracy of any starting field player at 54%.<\/p>\n

85% – Fagundez led all Revolution starters with 85% passing accuracy. D.C.\u2019s Johnson (88%) and Collin Martin (86%) were the only starters in the match with better passing accuracy. Overall New England completed 74% of their passes and D.C. 78%.<\/p>\n
