According to published reports,<\/a> Liverpool FC are interested in acquiring former New England Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey as part of a deal that would send former Fulham defender Paul Konchesky back to Craven Cottage in exchange.<\/p>\n

Dempsey, who was drafted 8th\u00a0overall in the 2004 MLS Superdraft by the New England Revolution,\u00a0has earned a reputation as one of the most dangerous and creative midfielders in the English Premier League since joining the Cottagers in 2007 for a reported fee of $4 million.\u00a0 In 2009,\u00a0La Gazzetta dello Sport<\/em> (Italy) named Dempsey as of one of the top 11 English Premier League players of the season while his goal against Juventus in last year\u2019s Europa League is being touted by many as Fulham\u2019s best goal in history.<\/p>\n

Konchesky, who made 97 appearances for Fulham between 2007 and 2010, has not been the stalwart defender Liverpool expected him to be when they signed him to 4-year contract worth \u00a33-\u00a34 million over the summer.\u00a0 In fact, the former Cottager has made just 15 league appearances for Liverpool this season and has hardly helped mend the porous defense which has allowed 31 goals this season.<\/p>\n
