FOXBOROUGH, Mass.<\/strong> — The New England Revolution face off against the Columbus Crew Saturday night in a critical late-season matchup with both squads battling for postseason seeding.<\/p>\n

Season series:<\/strong> Third match between the teams this season….Last met at Crew Stadium in Columbus on September 20th with the Crew winning 1-0 on a Federico Higuain free kick….Also met on July 26th at Gillette Stadium when the Crew won 2-1….The Columbus Crew look to sweep the season series after the Revolution took all three meetings between the teams in 2013.<\/p>\n

Revolution update:<\/strong> 14-13-3 overall, 45 points through 30 games (1.50 points per game), with 44 goals scored and 42 goals against\u2026.Currently tied with Sporting Kansas City for second place in the Eastern Conference.\u00a0 Sporting Kansas City will play Eastern Conference leaders D.C. United Friday night at home.\u00a0 The Revolution are two points ahead of the Columbus Crew and four points in front of the New York Red Bulls, in fourth and fifth place, respectively\u2026.The Revolution have played well at home down the stretch, winning five and drawing one of their last six home matches.<\/p>\n

Columbus Crew update:<\/strong> 11-9-10 overall, 43 points through 30 games (1.43 points per game), with 43 goals scored and 36 goals against\u2026..Currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind Sporting Kansas City and the Revolution for second and third, but only two points in front of New York (5th<\/sup> place) and three points in front of Toronto (6th<\/sup> place, has played one fewer game)\u2026.Currently third in the MLS behind DC United and the LA Galaxy in fewest goals allowed\u2026Coming off a pair of home victories against Montreal and the Revolution.\u00a0 The Crew have won five of their last seven games, although all five of those games have been at home\u2026.Columbus has struggled on the road this season, with a 3-5-6 record\u2026.Columbus leads the all-time regular season series between the two teams with a 31-20-11 record, including a 14-12-15 record at Gillette Stadium.<\/p>\n
