Lee Nguyen’s impressive campaign has put him on the shortlist for MVP, while strong performances from Jermaine Jones and Charlie Davies were enough to to put a total of three Revolution players on the\u00a0league’s list\u00a0of\u00a0finalists for regular season honors.<\/p>\n

Nguyen racked up an MLS-record 18 goals by a pure midfielder in 2014, nine of which were game-winners. Additionally, his scoring haul was the highest for an American player this season. He faces fierce competition from Seattle’s Obafemi Martins (17 goals, 13 assists) and the Los Angeles’ Robbie Keane (19 goals, 14 assists).<\/p>\n

Nguyen is hoping to become the\u00a0second Revolution player to win\u00a0MVP honors after Taylor Twellman became the first in 2005.<\/p>\n

Jones, who helped the Revolution go on an 8-1-1 tear down the stretch, is up for Newcomer of the Year. The U.S. International scored two goals and added four assists after he was acquired in late-August. The Revolution did not lose a game in which he started. Jones is up against Los Angeles’ Stefan Ishizaki (5 goals, 7 assists) and Vancouver’s Pedro Morales (10 goals, 12 assists).<\/p>\n

Last, but not least, Davies was named a finalist for Comeback Player of the Year after shaking off a host of leg injuries earlier this season to collect three goals and four assists this season. Joining Davies for consideration: Seattle’s Stefan Frei (34 starts, 9 clean sheets) and Portland’s Rodney Wallace (5 goals, 1 assist).<\/p>\n
