The Revolution saw their roster reduced to 19 after\u00a0losing a pair of young forwards through the expansion draft.\u00a0 Former 2014 SuperDraft pick Patrick Mullins and 2014 signee Tony Taylor were taken by New York City\u00a0FC.<\/p>\n

Patrick Mullins, who was selected 11th<\/sup> overall in last year\u2019s SuperDraft by the Revolution, was largely anticipated to be selected going into the expansion draft.\u00a0 Mullins showed great potential in limited \u00a0time with 4 goals in 19 appearances and played well as a substitute in the MLS Cup, with an assist on the only Revolution goal.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t need to wait long as NYC FC took him with the fourth pick in the expansion draft.<\/p>\n

Following the selection of Patrick Mullins, the Revolution were permitted to protect an additional player.\u00a0 After losing one of their first round picks from the 2014 SuperDraft, the Revolution predictably opted to protect their other pick, Steve Neumann, who was taken 4th<\/sup> overall in last year\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n

NYC FC took another Revolution forward using the 10th<\/sup> overall pick on Tony Taylor.\u00a0 Taylor was a surprise selection due to his lack of playing time with the Revolution.\u00a0 After signing with the Revolution in August of 2014, he made one substitute appearance with nine minutes of playing time and the Revolution announced on Monday that his option had been declined by the club. However, like Mullins, Taylor\u2019s potential is high as he represented the United States in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt and the U-23 squad in CONCACAF Olympic qualifying in 2012.<\/p>\n

Following the selection of Tony Taylor, all other players from the Revolution were protected, as only two players from a team may be taken in the draft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
