The Boston Breakers will call Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium home for their upcoming NWSL season while renovations are made at Harvard Stadium during the spring and summer.<\/a><\/p>\n

Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium is located adjacent to Harvard Stadium, and is home to the Harvard men’s and women’s soccer teams. Plans are in place to increase capacity from 2,500 to 4,000, and features an artificial surface.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a location, Harvard is important for us,\u201d Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said in a club release. \u201cIt is in a good location on the map for fans to get to, and we want to start building a consistent location after moving these past two years. I am excited to see the stadium full with 4,000-plus fans attending to watch some of the world\u2019s best soccer players and teams in action.\u201d<\/p>\n

The club will kick off its home slate on Apr. 26 when they host the Houston Dash. The locals will open their NWSL season on the road against Portland Thorns on Apr. 11. <\/p>\n

The Breakers have used Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium as a training ground for the past three seasons, and actually hosted a league match there in 2010, when they faced the Philadelphia Independence in the WPS Super Semifinal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a project we have invested a lot funding into, and something we have been working on for a while now,\u201d Billiard said. \u201cWe are excited about the facilities development for the 2015 NWSL season. The stadium will make for a very close and electric environment along with a top class playing field.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2013, the stadium hosted a U.S. Open Cup tie between the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
