Goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth became the first Revolution player to make the MLS Team of the Week in 2015 following his stout performance in Sunday’s match against New York City FC.<\/p>\n

The Revolution keeper made seven saves against a New York City side that fired a total of 20 shots in their home debut at Yankee Stadium. Shuttleworth denied David Villa on two clear chances, and kept his club within striking distance until a late Patrick Mullins goal shut the door on any hope of a comeback.<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s all you can ask your goalkeeper to do is to keep you in the game and give you a chance to win,” Revolution left back Chris Tierney said following the 2-0 loss, “and Bobby did that for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shuttleworth and his teammates will return to action on Saturday against the Montreal Impact at Gillette Stadium.<\/p>\n

MLS Team of the Week (Week 2), per MLSSoccer.com.<\/strong><\/p>\n

GK: Bobby Shuttleworth (New England Revolution) – An outstanding performance with seven saves \u2013 including several fantastic point-blank stops \u2013 to keep the Revs in it at Yankee Stadium.<\/p>\n

D: Hern\u00e1n Grana (Columbus Crew SC) \u2013 The Argentinian was flying up and down the right flank all night, proving very dangerous in Crew SC’s 2-0 win over Toronto FC.<\/p>\n

D: Rafael Ramos (Orlando City SC) \u2013 His tireless work in Houston proved fruitful as Orlando City got their first win in MLS, beating the Dynamo 1-0.<\/p>\n

D: Sam Adekugbe (Vancouver Whitecaps) \u2013 His two blocks in the first half helped keep the Fire off the board as the Whitecaps won 1-0 in Bridgeview.<\/p>\n

M: Fabi\u00e1n Castillo (FC Dallas) \u2013 Pitched in a goal and an assist while also providing his usual sparkling 1v1 play as FC Dallas downed Sporting Kansas City 3-1.<\/p>\n

M: Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers) \u2013 Faded for much of the second half but played vital roles in both goals and looked more like they player we all hope he\u2019ll be in the first half as the Timbers drew with the Galaxy 2-2.<\/p>\n

M: Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake) \u2013 Not only did he put in a free kick (helped by a slight deflection), but the veteran midfielder provided great service all night in RSL’s 3-3 draw with the Union.<\/p>\n

M: Justin Meram (Columbus Crew SC) \u2013 Opened the scoring and was very dangerous on the night, firing off seven shots in Crew SC’s win.<\/p>\n

F: David Villa (New York City FC) \u2013 Yeah, he could\u2019ve scored a few more, but that goal was marvelous, and the assist was even better. A season like that, and he\u2019ll get his name up in Monument Park.<\/p>\n

F: Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes) \u2013 He just scores goals and showed that again with two cold-blooded strikes against the Sounders.<\/p>\n

F: Blas P\u00e9rez (FC Dallas) \u2013 Scored two goals, provided decent hold-up play and mixed in his usual blend of craftiness and cunning.<\/p>\n

Coach: Dominic Kinnear (San Jose Earthquakes) \u2013 Started a rookie in the center of midfield and was able to hold onto the lead despite being down a man for 40 minutes.<\/p>\n
