Not long after he received a “very nice” e-mail from U.S. Soccer about his call up\u00a0for the squad’s friendly against\u00a0Mexico, Juan Agudelo\u00a0said he\u00a0wanted to do all he could to stay in the national team pool. It’s safe to say\u00a0he did just that on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Agudelo, who came on for Jordan Morris in the 65th minute,\u00a0scored\u00a0seven minutes later\u00a0to help seal a 2-0 win for the United States at the Alamodome. The 22-year-old brought down a ball from Michael Bradley with a deft touch, eluded his defender, then blasted it through the grasp of goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo.<\/p>\n

Immediately after the blast, an emotional Agudelo pulled his collar over his face as if he was shedding tears of joy and pointed to the sky as he celebrated the goal.<\/p>\n
