ORLANDO, Fla. – New England Revolution captain Shalrie Joseph was arrested early Sunday morning after he failed to comply with police and security instructions to exit the\u00a0team’s hotel\u00a0following a rowdy, early-morning party, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by New England Soccer Today <\/em>from the Orlando Police Department.<\/p>\n

The affidavit details that Joseph was arrested for “trespass in dwelling after warning,” and was later transported to the Booking Receiving Facility at the Orange County Jail, with bail set at $1,000.00.<\/p>\n

Shortly after\u00a0bail was posted, Joseph and teammate Kevin Alston, who was not named in the affidavit,\u00a0were\u00a0sent back to Boston by the team for “disciplinary reasons,” according to Vice President of Player Personnel Michael Burns.<\/p>\n

At around 3:30am on Sunday morning, two Orlando police officers were called to\u00a0room 1206 at the Sheraton Hotel on 400 W Livingston Street, after complaints were filed\u00a0about a loud party\u00a0that\u00a0was being held in the room.<\/p>\n

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers told the individuals in the room that they must return to their rooms “or be trespassed from the hotel.” Six individuals vacated the room, and the officers advised the two women who reserved the room that they could not host a loud party in the room since it bothered other guests.<\/p>\n

However, two individuals – one of them identified as Shalrie Joseph –\u00a0remained in the stairwell. Upon approaching these individuals, the officers reminded them they\u00a0should return to their rooms.<\/p>\n

According to the affidavit, Joseph responded by saying, “I’m not doing nothing wrong, I’m not going anywhere.” After he was told that security did not want anyone loitering in the stairwell, Joseph apparently\u00a0relented. “Fine, I’m going,” said Joseph to the officers.<\/p>\n

But instead of complying with the instructions, Joseph refused to leave and began to argue with the officers. At that point, the hotel’s security officer, Ernie Smart stepped in and leaned over to Joseph and told him to leave. Joseph retorted, “I live here, I don’t have to go anywhere.”<\/p>\n

Smart then requested that Joseph be\u00a0removed from the property, and one of the officers advised Joseph that he was going to be evicted. The officer then escorted Joseph to his room so that he could collect his belongings while Joseph continued to argue that he couldn’t be thrown out.<\/p>\n

As Joseph entered his room, he picked up a bag, then dropped it, and told the officer, “I’m not going anywhere,” at which point the officer instructed Joseph that he was being arrested for “trespass after warning.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
