For the second straight weekend, the New England Revolution loaned Trevor Spangenberg to the Richmond Kickers of the USL.\u00a0 Spangenberg will join Richmond for their match against the Charleston Battery on Saturday in Richmond, Va., a critical early season matchup between two unbeaten teams.\u00a0 Following the game, Spangenberg will re-join the Revolution.<\/p>\n

Spangenberg joined the Kickers last weekend for their game against FC Montreal, in which Spangenberg made the start and made nine saves in a 1-0 victory.<\/p>\n

With DC United starting goalkeeper Bill Hamid out for last week\u2019s match against Vancouver, Travis Worra was recalled from Richmond last week to back-up Andrew Dykstra, leaving the Kickers with only one goalkeeper, Ryan Taylor, for the Montreal match.\u00a0 Worra would end up making his MLS debut when Dykstra suffered an injury. \u00a0With Dykstra expected to miss this weekend\u2019s match, the Kickers find themselves in a similar situation as last weekend and are using the loan of Spangenberg to roster two keepers.<\/p>\n

Spangenberg was signed by the Revolution on March 5, 2015, but has yet to make an appearance with the team.\u00a0 Spangenberg has MLS experience as Dan Kennedy\u2019s backup at Chivas USA for the second half of the 2014 season, making one appearance, and has prior USL experience, but in the lower division PDL, with the Laredo Heat in 2010 and the Springfield Demize in 2012-2013 on top of his cameo with the Richmond Kickers last weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
