Revolution right back London Woodberry was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week<\/a> for week 9 of the regular season.<\/p>\n

Woodberry collected his first MLS assist on Charlie Davies’ opening goal in the 12 minute of Saturday’s 2-1 win over the New York Red Bulls. Additionally, he collected a game-high five crosses and made a team-best seven tackles.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really happy with London,” Revolution coach Jay Heaps said after the match.\u00a0“His feet are really good and I love that he\u2019s hitting early ball.<\/p>\n

“Early in the game he hit the cross there and then there were a couple of others after that so we really like the way he\u2019s putting the ball in the box. It\u2019s almost giving us a match to Chris (Tierney) on the other side so that teams have to defend both sides.”<\/p>\n

Saturday’s match was the third straight start for Woodberry after failing to see the pitch during the Revolution’s first seven games. He was signed prior to the season following a successful preseason trial.<\/p>\n

Teammate Scott Caldwell also made the Team of the Week as a reserve.<\/p>\n

MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week for week 9:<\/span><\/p>\n

GK: Tim Melia (Sporting Kansas City) – He looked very comfortable in his SKC debut, leading his team to a 1-0 victory over Chicago.<\/p>\n

D: London Woodberry (New England Revolution)<\/strong> – Made seven crucial tackles against an undefeated Red Bulls side as the Revolution beat their rivals 2-1 at home.<\/p>\n

D: Bobby Boswell (D.C. United) \u2013 Kept his back line neat and organized against a potent Crew SC attack as United won yet again.<\/p>\n

D: Chad Marshall (Seattle Sounders) \u2013 The reigning Defender of the Year dominated proceedings for most of the evening, giving the home side few opportunities to score.<\/p>\n

D: Dylan Remick (Seattle Sounders) – The former Brown Bear has settled into his starting role nicely as he put in another standout performance against NYCFC.<\/p>\n

M: Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC) – His knuckle free kick would have been enough to put him on the team, but the Italian was influential and showed off his skills throughout the game in TFC’s 1-0 win at Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

M: Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City) \u2013 \u2013 Had another great game and was unlucky not to have a couple of assists at home.<\/p>\n

M: Mauro D\u00edaz (FC Dallas) \u2013 If his goal and two assists against Houston are any indication, it was worth the wait to get Diaz back and in good form for FC Dallas, as he had one of his best games in MLS against the Dynamo.<\/p>\n

M: Fabi\u00e1n Castillo (FC Dallas) \u2013 Castillo was the yang to Diaz\u2019s yin for FCD, and part of his genius is that he\u2019s able to pull off both spectacular skill and tangible production, as he notched a goal and two assists as well.<\/p>\n

F: Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders) \u2013 One side of the potent strike force that dismantled NYCFC. His speed got him behind the NYC defense twice, and he buried both finishes.<\/p>\n

F: Fabi\u00e1n Esp\u00edndola (D.C. United) – Has settled right back into his 2014 form, playing a part in both of United’s goals on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Coach: Oscar Pareja (FC Dallas) \u2013 Had his team flying against their rivals as both Diaz and Castillo had their skills on full display against the Dynamo.<\/p>\n
