In another sure sign that spring is just around the corner, the Boston Breakers announced on Friday that the club will open its preseason camp on March 2nd at Harvard Stadium.<\/p>\n
The Breakers, who reached the WPS playoffs last season before falling to the upstart Philadelphia Independence in double-overtime of the 2010 WPS Super Semifinals, will return to the practice pitch with 26 players on the preseason roster, including perennial WPS All-Stars Kelly Smith, Alex Smith, Leslie Osborne, and Amy LePeilbet.<\/p>\n
In addition to the seasoned veterans, 2011 WPS draftees Keelin Winter, Whitney Palmer, and Tanya Taylor will begin their professional careers in Cambridge.<\/p>\n
The club will train at Harvard Stadium until March 11th, before they fly south for Florida for additional preseason training and scrimmages. The team\u2019s 2011 regular season opener is April 9th against the Atlanta Beat in Kennesaw, Ga.<\/p>\n
