FOXBOROUGH, Mass. \u2013 Charlie Davies has been through far\u00a0worse than getting dropped from the lineup. That much is certain. So you can bet that he isn\u2019t terribly bothered by watching Juan Agudelo take his spot up top.<\/p>\n

Although his playing time\u2019s been cut as a result of Agudelo\u2019s recent run of form, the Boston College alum said his self-confidence hasn\u2019t been shaken in the slightest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think everyone knows I\u2019m as tough as they come mentally,\u201d Davies told NESoccerToday.com<\/em>. \u201cThere\u2019s a reason why I\u2019m the leading goalscorer for this club – I just have to continue to work hard, and make a difference on the pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Making a difference hasn\u2019t been an easy order to fill for the charismatic forward. While he boasts a club-best nine goals this year, Davies hasn\u2019t found the back of the net since\u00a0mid-summer.<\/p>\n

Since that last strike \u2013which came in a 3-1 win over Toronto on Aug. 1 \u2013 Davies has struggled to test opposing defenses. As a result, Revolution coach Jay Heaps decided it best to start Agudelo over Davies at striker three weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Davies \u2013 whom Agudelo actually credits for his own recent run of form<\/a> \u2013 said that he isn\u2019t upset by the situation.<\/p>\n

Instead of dwelling on his demotion, Davies is looking at this weekend\u2019s regular season finale against New York City FC as an opportunity to remind his coach what he\u2019s capable of.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that when I do get my chance again – hopefully it\u2019s this Sunday – that we perform well,\u201d Davies said, \u201cand I do what is needed to win the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether that entails a return to the lineup, or coming off the bench, it\u2019s all the same to Davies. Another thing he\u00a0won\u2019t be concerned with is Yankee Stadium\u2019s narrow pitch, which could make it a tough day at the office for whoever starts up top for the Revolution come Sunday.<\/p>\n
