The Revolution’s original Homegrown Player is staying home for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Revolution gave midfielder Diego Fagundez a three-year contract extension with a club option for a fourth year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe Diego is one of the most promising young players in MLS,\u201d said Revolution General Manager Mike Burns said in a club release. \u201cWe expect his impact in the League to continue to grow and are thrilled he will continue to be an integral part of the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fagundez, who became the club’s first Homegrown Player signing when he inked a deal with the Revolution at age 15 in 2010, is coming off a season in which he scored six goals and added four assists in 30 games. He recorded a 6.65 player rating for 2015 on whoscored.com<\/em><\/a>, which ranks 11th among Revolution players who played 11 or more games.<\/p>\n

In five years with the Revolution, the 20-year-old midfielder has scored 28 goals and collected 18 assists in 118 games. His best season came in 2013, when he scored team-high 13 goals and racked up seven assists in 31 games.<\/p>\n

The Leominster, Mass. native previously signed a multi-year extension with the Revolution during the 2013. The club also picked up his contract option for 2016 in November.<\/p>\n

Fagundez is the second Revolution veteran to sign a multi-year deal with the local XI in the last three weeks. Longtime defender Chris Tierney signed an extension last month, thus keeping him from becoming a free agent during the 2016-17 offseason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
