Today, we look back at a tale of two very different halves in a 3-2 loss to the Crew.)<\/em><\/p>\n

May 11, 1996<\/p>\n

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Argentinian striker Alberto “Beto”\u00a0Naveda scored his first goal of the season, but a late surge from the Columbus Crew doomed the Revolution, who fell 3-2 before 24,750 at Ohio Stadium on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Naveda, who was acquired in the MLS Supplemental Draft, tallied his first Revolution goal in the 34th minute, a strike that followed a Welton goal in the 18th minute to build a lead that appeared to be strong enough to get the first road win in club history.<\/p>\n

But the Crew had other ideas. A brace from Brian McBride (48th minute, 89th minute) and “Sneaky” Pete Marino (87th minute) allowed the hosts to prevail and prompted a number of supporters to rush the pitch following the final whistle.<\/p>\n

An indication that the Revolution were out of their element in the second half was the five cautions they were issued, as Mike Burns (48th minute), Geoff\u00a0Aunger (68 minute), Naveda (78 minute), John DeBrito (80th minute), and Ted Chronopoulos (87th minute) were all booked.<\/p>\n

With the loss, the Revolution fell to 2-3, and remain in third place in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

New England will attempt to get back to .500 on May 19 against the MetroStars at Foxboro Stadium.<\/p>\n
