Teal Bunbury scored twice to help send the Revolution to the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals following Wednesday’s 3-2 Round of 16 victory over the New York Cosmos at Belson Stadium in Jamaica, N.Y.<\/p>\n

Bunbury’s first strike came in the 41st minute, a goal that cancelled out Ruben Bover’s opening goal in the 38th minute. The encore arrived in the 83rd minute after Bunbury steered a Kei Kamara pass into New York’s net. Prior to Bunbury’s second goal, Kamara tallied his first Revolution goal in the 75th minute after his initial shot was denied by Jimmy Mauer. The designated player’s effort answered a 56th minute score from Sebasti\u00e1n Guenzatti.<\/p>\n

With the win, the Revolution will face the Philadelphia Union in the quarterfinals on Jul. 20 at a location to be determined.<\/p>\n

New England will return to MLS play on Saturday at Montreal where they’ll face the Impact at Stade Saputo. Kickoff is set for 5:30pm. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
