Earlier this month, rumors swirled about Boston City FC potentially moving up from NPSL to NASL<\/a> next season. On Thursday, the club announced a significant partnership that may serve as a prelude to that jump to second-division soccer.<\/p>\n

With plenty of buzz about which league they’ll compete in next year, Boston City announced a corporate partnership with Boston-based New Balance, which will become the club\u2019s official outfitter and apparel supplier.<\/p>\n

As part of the multi-year agreement, New Balance will supply uniforms and apparel specifically for the Lions, as well as apparel for supporters.<\/p>\n

“The level of commitment from New Balance is a clear indication that they believe in the longevity of the project we started two years ago,” said Boston City FC Managing Director Craig Tornberg in a statement. “They have recognized what we have achieved to date and see the tremendous potential Boston City has to influence and appeal to soccer fans in our region.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Balance is already affiliated with numerous soccer clubs, including Liverpool FC, Celtic FC, and FC Porto.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew Balance is incredibly excited and proud to announce a new sponsorship with our local NPSL team, Boston City FC,” said New Balance general manager Chris Gallo in a statement. “Our agreement together is a strong statement for New Balance in the region, and we look forward to providing the best experience for both the players and fans on and off the field.”<\/p>\n

Officially, Boston City’s front office has remained mum on any potential move to another league.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the NASL will find out next week if their second-division status will be reinstated after U.S. Soccer initially denied that status for 2018 in September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
