SANTA CLARA, Calif. \u2013 A back and forth affair ended in defeat for the New England Revolution as the San Jose Earthquakes scored twice in a twelve minute span late in the second half and eventually won 2-1 on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Ellis McLoughlin opened the scoring in the 71st<\/sup> minute and Bobby Convey doubled the \u2018Quakes (3-4-3, 12 points) lead twelve minutes later. The Revs (3-4-4, 13 points) would answer through Chris Tierney in the 86th<\/sup> minute, but couldn\u2019t go on to find a late equalizer.<\/p>\n The Revolution, again without Marko Perovic, Didier Domi, and Ousmane Dabo due to injury, used an unchanged starting line-up from their 1-0 win over Vancouver the previous Saturday. It was the first time all season the Revs had used the same line-up in back-to-back games.<\/p>\n The best chance in the first half came in the 13th<\/sup> minute for San Jose when Khari Stephenson\u2019s free kick eluded the wall and goalkeeper Matt Reis, but was denied by the crossbar.<\/p>\n Both sides had a few more half chances before the \u2018Quakes opened the scoring in the 71st<\/sup> minute. Chris Wondolowski found McLoughlin at the back post and the 20-year-old striker headed it inside the far post for his first career MLS goal.<\/p>\n Convey doubled the lead on a 83rd<\/sup> minute free kick.
